I’m not sure of Techmeme’s history, but today marks the first time that I ever saw a promotional public relations piece on the front page. Verizon’s “One Millionth FiOS Customer” is a short video promoting the benefits of fiber in a family’s diet – their fiber, specifically. Even stranger, the discussion thread on Techmeme included somewhat congratulatory responses from A-List blogs such as CrunchGear, Gigaom and CNet News. What’s that all about? I’m not saying that it’s not a significant milestone for Verizon. My hat is off to them. I suppose that I’m just wondering when I should submit my own Press Release to Techmeme? Does anyone know if you have to submit them in video format?
