Newegg Leverages Social Media with Holiday Sweepstakes

One way to leverage social media is to offer member-only value for people who are fans and followers of your Facebook and Twitter profiles. This isn’t a new strategy, of course. Email marketers have been doing it for years by providing email-only offers and promotions to increase subscriptions. But it’s the first good example that I’ve seen on social media platforms. That’s not to say that other companies aren’t doing it. I just haven’t seen them.

Newegg is offering a Fan Sweepstakes. Fans and followers of their Facebook and Twitter profiles are eligible to win some nice prizes just for being a fan.

They are also offering value by announcing their holiday promotions to fans first.

You can enter the Newegg sweepstakes on Facebook or on Twitter by following them @newegghotdeals and retweeting any deal that you think is hot between now and December 1st. Add #newegg to your tweet and you will be automatically entered. Only one retweet will be counted, so there’s no need to retweet everything they post.

What a great way to get your brand out there. Providing a valuable social media incentive will encourage people to retweet your Twitter promotional posts and encourage them to serve as your international marketing team.
